Fosse Jack: I first saw Polly Wood (Polly Delish) perform at Columbia City Cabaret back in 2008. Polly
and I have been friends since college and I had known she was getting into burlesque, but at the time I didn’t
really know what burlesque was. In any case, I went to this show with a couple of my girlfriends who immediately
began speculating how much fun it would be to put burlesque acts together. I was of course thinking the same thing,
but at the time kept my thoughts to myself. Shortly after I told Polly that I wanted to perform with her.
Two years later we got our opportunity, with the first performance of The JACK & WOOD Show.
JACK & WOOD is unique in that we are not ‘just burlesque’ nor are we ‘just cabaret’, Polly and I are both ‘triple threats’
in that we have music, dance and acting backgrounds and as such we wanted to bring all of those elements together in a
burlesque style show. J&W is a true variety show, and we pride ourselves on having something for everyone. Seattle is
seeing a Vaudeville Revival at present, and J&W is working hard to be a torchbearer for this new performance renaissance.
Seattle has such a rich performing arts community, but performers tend to segregate themselves, gathering with like minded/talented
individuals and rarely get the opportunity to work with those in other groups. JACK & WOOD is working to bridge those gaps
and break through the STATUS QUO (thank you “High School Musical”), to help develop a more all encompassing, and cohesive
artistic community. Burlesque, Musical Theater, Dance, Comedy, Music (Vocal/Instrumental), Drama, Performance Art, Circus Arts…
they all have a place and J&W endeavors to be that place.
"Sing when you feel too much to speak about how you feel; dance when you feel too much to just sing about
it;
and when you feel too much to just dance…take it off. Clothes just get in the way." -Fosse Jack
